Hopefully nothing beats the performance his 'Pineapple Express' co-star James Franco gave throughout last year's Academy awards. [Photo: AP] Follow Moviefone on Twitter Like Moviefone on Facebook

Secrecy bill can't silence SABC

CAPE TOWN - Picketing by disgruntled audiences, staffers and providers is becoming commonplace outdoors the South African Broadcasting Corp.'s (SABC) Gauteng HQ recently -- and shows no manifestation of abating because the near-bankrupt pubcaster wrestles having a string of scams. In the finish of November, the SOS Support Public Broadcasting Coalition shown while watching building, with the federal government to axe SABC board chairman Ben Ngubane among accusations of staff corruption. The money-strapped broadcaster, which works three channels, has already established five leader officials and three boards since 2007 and it is presently missing a Boss, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. The picket in the SABC came 2 days after Black Tuesday, when mass protests unsuccessful to prevent the South African parliament from passing the security of Condition Information Bill. This so-known as Secrecy Bill implies that journalists and whistle-blowers might be jailed for two-and-a-half decades for having or distributing information the federal government has considered classified, even when acting within the public interest.Tensions inside the SABC began having a politically hired board in 2007.At any given time once the SABC was losing advertising revenue, audiences and also the production sector's trust, the pubcaster frantically needed visionary leadership, but rather grew to become involved inside a political fight between then leader Thabo Mbeki and current leader Jacob Zuma, using the professional-Mbeki board fired by Zuma's parliament last year.Throughout the financial crisis within the 2008-2009 financial year, the SABC lost near to R1 billion ($124.5 million), and was instructed to seek government guarantees of $186.7 million."Never-ending mismanagement, fruitless and inefficient expenditure, with no permanence in leadership continue being an order during the day in the SABC," states Marc Schwinges, deputy chair from the South African Screen Federation (Sasfed), which signifies virtually all of the film industry orgs. The pubcaster has already established no obvious financial recovery plan because the government withdrew the 1% tax on personal earnings that funded SABC.In the current picket, SOS, formerly referred to as Save Our SABC, complained the pubcaster hadn't clarified questions regarding a number of issues, including why the vacant professional positions had not been filled. They should also know why pubcaster professional Justice Ndaba, disgraced to take $30,600 for study and travel expenses, amongst other things, was changed by former mind Sipho Sithole, who formerly faced accusations that his private interests within the music and film industries conflicted together with his role in the SABC.The coalition also asked the SABC's lately launched Request Plans, its system for ordering in your area made shows. "This Years and 2011 RFPs constitute only a tiny proportion of what's needed in new original programming to satisfy local content quotas," states Schwinges. New Showtime Leading Guy Liev Schreiber Will Probably Reduce Role At Cinemax Sports

Having a deal to star in Showtime’s pilot Ray Donovan, Liev Schreiber may eventually get to be the face from the pay cable network. But simultaneously, it appears like he'll no more function as the exclusive voice from the sports division of rival Cinemax. I’ve found that Cinemax has elected to not renew its overall cope with the actor to become the the voice of Cinemax Sports, that has incorporated narrating almost all Cinemax sports documentaries, the 24/7 reality series, and also the National football league reality series Hard Knocks. Cinemax isn't cutting ties with Schreiber, that has been voicing Cinemax Sports’ programs within the last 16 years. Liev is placed to begin work in a few days on his next Cinemax Sports project, 󈧜/7 Flyers/Rangers: Route to the NHL Winter Classic, Cinemax Sports stated inside a statement, decreasing further comment. I hear that Schreiber is also scheduled to do another Cinemax Sports project in The month of january. Based on an Cinemax source, the network doesn't intend to sign a general cope with another actor, choosing for a number of voices. Since beginning in 1995, Schreiber has read just about all Cinemax Sports documentaries. (Among very couple of exceptions was the 2003 Red-colored Sox docu The Curse From The Bambino voiced by die-hard Red-colored Sox fan Film Clip). He's read basically one edition of Hard Knocks because the series’ launch in 2001 (the Might Chiefs edition in 2007 ended by Paul Rudd), as well as 24/7 since its 2007 start. The move coincides using the leadership change at Cinemax Sports. Ken Hershman was lately drawn on as new Cinemax Sports leader, and that he will join the pay cable funnel in The month of january. It coincided with Schreiber’s high-profile casting because the lead in Showtime’s pilot Ray Donovan within the feature actor’s first regular series gig, with a few stating that your decision by Cinemax is made soon after the announcement of Schreiber’s Showtime casting. Others inside Cinemax insist the 2 aren't related.

Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie Red Band Trailer: Sick Show, Great Job!

Every once in a while it’s nice to see a “red band trailer” that could possibly disturb somebody. Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie does just that, as well as build nicely upon Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim’s Adult Swim series Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, which ran for five seasons. In the trailer for the new movie, which will premiere at Sundance, we watch as Tim and Eric don fetching khakis, sever a finger, astound Zach Galifiankis, reveal a staggering sex toy and “honor their love” for each other. Disgusting and undeniably funny. More Tim %26 Erics Billion Dollar Movie Videos I love the list of guest-stars: Will Ferrell, Jeff Goldblum, Will Forte, Zach Galifianakis — pretty esteemed company. I’m curious as to how a duo this irreverent and ridiculous can sustain a 90-minute feature, but it appears that random moments of naughty whizzbang will be key. I’m not sure anything can top the majesty of Paul Rudd’s Tim and Eric guest-spot as Celery Man, but I have to admit this is one of the Sundance selections I most look forward to watching. Or Maybe I’ll wait to catch it at the S’Wallow Valley Mall. · Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie [IGN] Follow Louis Virtel on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.

George Clooney and Michelle Williams To Be Honored at the Palm Springs Film Festival

Disney's The Muppets appear to be anything but washed up.our editor recommends'The Muppets': White House Hosting Screening for Military Families (Exclusive)Martin Scorsese Calls Filming 'Hugo' in 3D 'An Enjoyable Headache'The Muppets: Film ReviewHugo: Film ReviewArthur Christmas: Film Review PHOTOS: 'The Muppets' Premiere Red Carpet Arrivals According to box office tracking, the family film holds a safe lead over the other two new Thanksgiving films, Sony and Aardman's Arthur Christmas and Paramount's Hugo, directed by Martin Scorsese. All three films open nationwide on Wednesday, hoping to feast on Thanksgiving holiday traffic. The Muppets, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams opposite the iconic puppets, is headed for a $40 million or better five day debut. Holdover The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn--Part 1 could win the Thanksgiving box office overall, but Muppets should be able to claim a victorious start for Disney, which made the film for a modest $45 million. VIDEO: Jason Segel, Amy Adams Talk Muppet Purists, Script Tricks and Being 'Too Ambitious' Disney bought the rights to The Muppets in 2004, and returning the puppets to fame has been a priority for Walt Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross, who wants to create a new generation of fans. The studio's marketing division has enlisted the entire Disney empire in plugging the film, as well as arranging a White House screening of the movie for military families on Tuesday that Segel hosted. Arthur Christmas is projected to open in the mid to high teens for the five days. Sony is hopeful that the 3D film will be a slow burn and have strong legs throughout December because of its Christmas theme, and points out it doesn't have the brand recognition that Muppets enjoys since its an original property. Arthur Christmas, which answers the question of how Santa Claus delivers toys all over the world in one night, has already grossed north of $10 in four markets overseas, the bullk of which was earned in the U.K., home of Aardman. This weekend, it continues to roll out overseas, including in Japan, France, Korea and New Zealand. THR COVER STORY: The Dreams of Martin Scorsese It's unclear where Warner Bros. holdover Happy Feet Two will land over the Thanksgiving holiday after opening to a disappointing $21.2 million last weekend. Hugo is Scorsese's first family film, as well as his first 3D title. Produced by Graham King and distributed by Paramount, Hugo--which cost north of $100 million to produce--is expected to open in the low teens for the five days. Paramount has decided to go with a slow roll out, and will only open Hugo in some 1,200 theaters, compared to more than 3,000 locations for Muppets and Arthur Christmas. That's because Hugo is expected to play a bit older than a regular family film, as well as appeal to a more sophisticated audience. By scaling back Hugo's initial footprint, Paramount hopes to ride the wave of good reviews and awards attention as December gets underway, much as it did last year with True Grit, which was released over Christmas, and became a box office success. Hugo isn't alone in sporting rave reviews--in an unusual Thanksgiving twist, The Muppets and Arthur Christmas also are criticial darlings (Muppetsboasted a 100 percent fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com as of Thursday afternoon). The specialty box office also sees several high-profile debuts. On Wednesday, the Weinstein Co. opens Michelle Williams starrer My Week with Marilyn in 123 theaters in 12 markets before expanding into an additional 61 markets on Friday, bringing the film's total theater count to 224. The smaller roll out on Wednesday is designed to give the film some breathing room from Fox Searchlight's The Descendants, which expands into a total of 400 theaters on Thanksgiving eve. Also on Wednesday, Sony Pictures Classics launches David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, starring Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen, in four theaters in NY and Los Angeles. Friday brings the NY-Los Angeles debut of the critically acclaimed French silent film The Artist, which the Weinstein Co. opens in four theaters in those two cities. Xavier Gens Enters House Of Horror

Hand-in-hand with producer James WanSaw and Insidious director James Wan has been hatching a plan to produce a slate of horror films with Icon Entertainment for some time now. It looks like one of the first off the production line will be House Of Horror, with Xavier Gens taking up position behind the cameras.House Of Horror seems as if it will be told in flashback, with a captured suspect in a police cell relating the events that got his five amateur ghost-hunting friends massacred in the titular ruin. The story unfolds via straight cinematography, "found footage", videos from the interrogation room and TV news reports, and it apparently comes to seem increasingly likely that our narrator has brought something with him out of the house, which he says is a gateway to Hell.If you ask us, this sounds like a rather good premise for a horror; we've often wondered why the heroes and heroines of same don't end up in hot water with the authorities after all their friends / family are horribly murdered and the supernatural forces responsible vanish. Gens directed the barking mad French cannibal nazi horror Frontiere(s), and had Hitman taken away from him in the editing suite because Fox deemed his cut too astonishingly violent. His latest, the post-apocalyptic thriller The Divide, has played at a couple of festivals in the UK so far, but hasn't yet scored a general release date here. It's out in the States in January. The House Of Horror screenplay is by Max La Bella, from initial musings by Wan, and Gens is coming in as a replacement for Javier Gutierrez, who has departed for reasons unknown. Gutierrez is possibly joining the remake of The Crow, but we don't know that for sure yet.

'Immortals' Henry Cavill: Whats Next for the THR Next Gen Actor

Up until recently, Henry Cavill has been known around Hollywood for the film roles he didn't get instead of the ones he headlined. The Greek gods action film drew in an impressive $68 million worldwide, far exceeding the $25 million expectations for its opening weekend. PHOTOS: THR's Next Gen Class of 2011 This wasn't his first time in a box office hit; Cavill made his feature debut in 2002 in The Count of Monte Cristo. But he didn't garner an international fan base until 2007, after he scored the role of Charles Brandon in Showtime's period melodrama The Tudors. Cavill's Tudors success (and in part, we assume, his shirtless acting abilities) led him to the role of Immortals' Theseus, a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against King Hyperion. In an ending fit only for Hollywood, the man who had previously been passed over for the leads in Superman Returns and Casino Royale has gotten a second shot at Superman, becoming the first non-American to portray Clark Kent in the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed Man of Steel (now in production). Duggars Defend Decision To Have 20th Child

First Published: November 9, 2011 5:34 PM EST Credit: TLC Caption Michelle and Jim Bob DuggarLOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Some have criticized Michelle and Jim Bob Duggars decision to have their 20th child, but the 19 Kids and Counting stars are defending their choice to continue to grow their family. Every child deserves to be excited they are a part of life, Michelle told People, following the announcement that she was expecting again. Even when we were having our fifth and sixth [kid] we would celebrate each pregnancy. The premature birth of their most recent daughter, Josie, and being diagnosed with preeclampsia was not enough to deter the reality TV mom from getting pregnant. If we felt that way, we would have stopped back with our second birth, the 45-year-old mother explained. There are many women who have experienced preeclampsia and have gone on to have more children. That whole mindset that you stop after a problem pregnancy isnt realistic, she continued. You may encounter struggles along the way. You may not have a perfect pregnancy, but each child is a precious gift. Jim Bob, 46, stressed that despite the size of their massive brood, they are able to devote time to each child. We homeschool, so we are around our children day in and day out, he told the mag. Because I am in real estate, I am home and can be with the children a lot. REVIEW: Big, Clumsy Tower Heist Still Hits Moments of Comic Grace

Brett Ratner has long been the whipping boy for everything that’s wrong with big, dumb Hollywood entertainments. There’s just one problem: He’s actually good at making dumb stuff, and now that Hollywood entertainments have gotten even bigger without showing any signs of getting smarter, with a Ratner movie, at least you can be confident you’re in the hands of a master. Tower Heist is more of the same, a comedy that allows its ensemble of actors some interpersonal latitude with the gags — the movie’s best scenes are one-on-one exchanges — but then clamps down on any potential breeziness by forcing a bigger, badder, not-necessarily-better finale. After watching Gabourey Sidibe flirt coquettishly with Eddie Murphy — and getting one hell of a rise out of him — do we really need to see a rare, zillion-dollar sportscar being lowered down the side of a skyscraper? Ratner and writers Ted Griffin and Jeff Nathanson (working from a story by Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and Griffin) apparently think we do, and by the time those shenanigans kick in, Tower Heist has already gotten a lot of the fun out of the way. But much of the picture is fun, and even though it’s rather big and clumsy in its attempts to kick the collective asses of fat-cat finance guys — and there’s something nakedly opportunistic about its efforts to grab a piece of the Zeitgeist pie — it’s harmless and silly at worst. Ben Stiller stars as Josh Kovacs, the manager of a Manhattan luxury high-rise that looks a lot like Trump Tower because it is Trump Tower, though it’s never mentioned by name. In addition to keeping the building’s staff on its toes, Josh serves as toady to the building’s richest resident, big-time financier Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda, who brings that great trademark benign sliminess to the role). Despite the fact that he owns a rooftop pool that’s all about the Benjamin — its bottom is lined with a jumbo replica of that most coveted denomination — Shaw works hard at pretending he’s just an average guy. He and Josh even attended the same Queens high school, years apart; the difference is, Josh still lives in Queens. Then FBI Special Agent Claire Denham (Ta Leoni) shows up to arrest Shaw for securities fraud. Unfortunately, it turns out that Josh has entrusted Shaw to invest the retirement savings of all the building’s employees. That means everyone from the saucy housekeeper Odessa (Sidibe) to the seemingly half-awake concierge (Casey Affleck), whose wife is eight months pregnant, has fallen victim to Shaw’s schemes. Feeling angry and betrayed, Josh enlists a bumbling troupe — including a recently hired elevator operator played by Michael Pea and a former building resident (Matthew Broderick) who’s fallen on hard times himself — to stage an internal heist that will recoup the money Shaw has stolen from them. But being a nerdy white guy from Queens, he needs the help of one of his neighbors, career hood Slide (Eddie Murphy), to do it. Tower Heist is overstuffed with actors, and yet Ratner manages to give each of them one or two (or more) good moments. Stiller is, for a change, remarkably unloathsome here, partly because the always-wonderful Leoni — one of the great modern screwball actresses, if filmmakers only knew what to do with screwball actresses these days — somehow drains some of the poison off him. Leoni can be tough and loopy at the same time, an extraordinary combination. When she discovers that Shaw has a pedigreed Ferrari stashed in his living room, she shoots him with a glorious ray from her ice gun: “You have Steve McQueen’s car parked in your living room? And here I thought you were an asshole.” Broderick makes a great deadpan sadsack — he actually makes you feel sorry for deposed Wall Street hotshots. Murphy is Murphy: He’s not branching into any new territory, but he sure knows his way around a wisecrack (and I continue to be charmed by his resolutely unfixed front teeth). But Sidibe — whose character isn’t just a domestic but also an ace safecracker — is the greatest surprise here: She’s breezy and casual and winning, particularly in the moment where she shocks Murphy’s Slide with her seductive potty-mouth. The look on Murphy’s face — a slow-burning WTF — is lovely in its own right, but its Sidibe’s flirty demureness that steals the moment. Ratner loves to go for the big, excessive finish, and Tower Heist is most fatiguing in the last stretch. But his movie is also dotted, here and there, with comic gracefulness. You’d never accuse Ratner of having a light touch, but every once in a while, he lets a breeze blow through even this most gargantuan of skyscrapers.

The Hollywood Reporters Parent Company Continues To Cost Cut: Prometheus Pulled Plug On Hollywood Creative Directory; Adweek Also In Trouble And In Turmoil

Deadline recently wrote that The Hollywood Reporter was laying off and/or firing staff because of financial problems.Internal sources at embattled parent company Prometheus Global Media revealed toDeadline this week that the Hollywood CreativeDirectory employees, comprised of its publishing director of 17 years ValenciaMcKinley and her staff of three, were laid offand informed that theoutlet had been sold. There’s no question that Prometheus is looking to cut costs especially with The Hollywood Reporter hemorrhaging red ink because of soaring overhead. Two execs from the previous and new administrations say the Hollywood Creative Directory has its own P&Ltherefore it’s a separate entity inside Prometheus — even though the HCD website reads “The Hollywood Creative Directory is part of the information services unit of The Hollywood Reporter.” That’s apparently only for co-branding purposes. Interestingly, one insiderdoesn’t even think theHCDwas sold. Another believes that was just a cover story so Prometheus’ money problems wouldn’t be made public. There’s alsonews that another Prometheus publication,Adweek, is suffering declining ad revenue under its redesign with editor Michael Wolff hired last October. But now the high-profile Wolff is considered a goner. So that’s another Prometheus publication in trouble. Once upon a time, HCD was a vital phone book for those hunting down film/TV/music industry producers, directors, talent reps, and executives who find and lose jobs or dealsso frequently. HCD had a virtual monopoly on its biz and its staff worked incredibly hard, providingso much work with so little resources. But now so much of the HCDdata can be accessedin many places and more cheaply. The $79.95 seasonal printvolume of the Hollywood Creative Directory and the annual subscription for the printed directory ran as high as $179.95. Both were rendered more or less obsoletein the Internet age.Evenan annual online subscriptionto IMDB.pro costs $124.95 (or $15.95/month) vs. the Hollywood CreativeDirectory’s yearly online access fee of $199.95 (or $19.95/month). while Excelmailing lists topped out at $399.95. Former Hollywood Reporter and Billboardowner VNU Business Media initially acquired the Hollywood Creative Directory aspart of its purchase of IFilm Corp. in September 2004. Deadline had theHCD news on Tuesday but was saving it for Nikki Finke’s upcomingexpanded behind-the-scenes biz report about Prometheus and The Hollywood Reporter. Breakfast at Tiffany's at 50: We Need to Talk About Mr. Yunioshi

As delightful as it is to watch Audrey Hepburn flitting about NY in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, gazing adoringly at jewels and pretty things and falling in love as party girl Holly Golightly — the original Carrie Bradshaw — a shadow has loomed over that film for decades: Namely, Mickey Rooney’s cartoonish turn as Mr. Yunioshi, the buck-toothed, bespectacled and slightly pervy Japanese man who lives upstairs. The good news, circa 2011, is that after years of not knowing exactly how to address that ugly, embarrassing moment in classic Hollywood cinema — hindsight and all that — Paramount Pictures, releasing the 50th Anniversary Blu-ray this week, offers a concerted effort to make amends. It may seem like a small part of the slick and comprehensive new Blu-ray release of Blake Edwards’ 1961 classic, which comes packed with loads of commemorative special features celebrating Hepburn and the beloved film, but the 17-minute documentaryMr. Yunioshi: An Asian Perspective, released previously on the film’s 2009 DVD re-issue, is the single most important. Honestly, you can forget the daydream loveliness of “Moon River” and the escapist fabulousness of Holly Golightly’s very existence. No part of the film speaks louder about American life at the time (and what fantasies real Americans received at the movies) than Mr. Yunioshi. As played by Rooney, Mr. Yunioshi is shocking to behold. To say the character and performance don’t hold up today is an understatement; at the time the caricature may have been accepted and written off as merely colorful comedic slapstick, but many decades of social progression later, it’s clearly downright racist. “Miss Go-right-ry!” Rooney calls to Hepburn, affecting an outlandishly extreme “Asian” accent. With his gnarly prosthetic teeth, slicked back hair, Coke-bottle glasses and squinty eyes, he’s an uncanny personification of WWII-era anti-Japanese propaganda cartoons. He’s skeevy to boot; the film mines laughs out of his features, accent and behavior, not to mention Holly’s efforts to shrug off Yunioshi’s efforts to get her upstairs into his apartment for a private photography session. It may have been just another blip in a long history of movies featuring insulting ethnic stereotypes, but in the middle of an otherwise lovely film it became one of the more cutting examples of institutionalized racism in Hollywood. “It just made me cringe,” says actress Marilyn Tokuda, one of a handful of film and media pros interviewed in the documentary. You don’t have to be Asian or Asian-American to feel that cringe when watching Rooney in the film, or to notice the striking lack of Asians in mainstream media, let alone movies. But it’s not solely a matter of being woefully mis- or under-represented. Phil Lee and Guy Aoki of the Media Action Network for Asian Americans, who also appear in the feature, patiently and painstakingly explain what “yellowface” is for those who don’t know, detailing how characters like Mr. Yunioshi (or Ming the Merciless, Mr. Moto, Lon Chaney in Shadows, or even Nancy Kwan in The World of Suzie Wong) reflect and perpetuate negative stereotypes that can seep off-screen into the public consciousness. When American audiences of the 1930s, 1940s and beyond are only exposed to evil Asian villains who are untrustworthy, for example, can you draw a correlation to the U.S. government then justifying the internment of Japanese-Americans on the basis that they can’t be trusted? That’s not to say that racism in movies causes racist behavior. The former perpetuates the latter, and for better and for worse Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a product of its time. Did filmmakers back then intend to offend? Probably not. Is their ignorance excusable nonetheless? I’d say no. We’ve made strides as a people, an industry and an audience to avoid lapses in judgment this damning, and we’ve seen the likes of Justin Lin, Jon M. Chu and Maggie Q proliferate in front of and behind the camera in recent years, helping to reverse the historic trend by normalizing the Asian-American presence in Hollywood with mainstream successes. Still, minority voices are in relatively short supply. So it’s worth remembering, as we soak in the blithe cheeriness of Holly Golightly and celebrate the 50th anniversary of her romantic escapades, exactly why her Japanese neighbor upstairs is so worthy of (not so) polite disdain.

REVIEW: The Change-Up Takes Oversexed Dude Comedy to Grim, Joyless New Depths

The Change-Up is a studio hybrid both so advanced and so primitive it defies parsing. Partly derived from the old Freaky Friday switcheroo comedy, partly bent on what feels like the pre-Enlightenment theme of men fretting over whether to live selfishly or with personal and social responsibility, it’s post-Hays code, state-of-the-art obscenity mingled with the pre-feminist option of treating women as problems against which a man’s life is defined. If Philip Roth and Ivan Reitman had a celluloid baby? Does it come from the future? Or did its everything-and-nothing-ness lower from the sky in a toxic, crowd-sourcing cloud? Have we burned our gender constructs so far into the ground they now have to be taught to us by soullessly motivated filmmakers beholden to brainless focus testing? But Jason Bateman is adorable, isn’t he? The face of froggy resignation with the dry wit of a straight-man who has suffered too many fools, he projects the ironical, distancing presence of mind we all like to think we possess in an increasingly silly world. A role like Arrested Development’s Michael Bluth was a revelation for Bateman, and it was only a matter of time before he ascended to leading roles in big-screen comedies, a mixed blessing in such deeply unsophisticated times. He managed to make it through The Switch, the Jennifer Aniston immaculate conception comedy, with most of his capital intact, but his latest film could have leached the charm out of Cary Grant. Actually, the biggest surprise of The Change-Up, in which Bateman plays a husband and father pining for the decade he pissed away with accomplishments, is the extent to which his co-star, the odious Ryan Reynolds, can be made palatable simply by pretending to be Jason Bateman. Bateman plays Dave Lockwood, a corporate lawyer with infant twins whose mind is so crammed with stress and sleep-training trivia that he’s always forgetting his plans with both his wife, Jamie (Leslie Mann), and his best friend, Mitch (Reynolds). Mitch is the moldy flipside in this familiar equation: He’s still listening to early Beasties, sleeps most days, and “I dated her mouth for a whole semester” is an example of both his conversation in company and the longest relationship he ever had. The two men attend a baseball game early on, and over beers discuss the precise shade of green they each envision on the other side. During some homo-social co-urination, they utter the same thing — “I wish I had your life!” — at the same time, and the jinx sticks. The next morning Dave wakes up in Mitch’s body and considerably less auspicious bachelor loft, and Mitch is faced with the flesh-and-fluid corporeality that lies behind the cozy front of domesticity. What we’re trapped in is a flurry of low-grade humor where the men rarely feel at risk and the women, revealed as the gory other lurking underneath all that verdant green grass, are ritually humiliated. Mitch has to pretend to be a lawyer, and is fouling up a big Japanese deal when he’s not treating Dave’s comely associate (Olivia Wilde) to sub-pornographic come-ons. Meanwhile, Dave has to show up for Mitch the aspiring actor’s gig, only to find out it’s a “lorno” (light porno), and his co-star is a wretchedly distorted older woman with dirigible breasts. At home Mitch’s Tuesday booty call turns out to be a massively pregnant blonde, and Leslie Mann and her bowel functions appall Mitch into celibacy. There’s a long set piece featuring irreverent cruelty to babies, and Mann is asked to give the same speech she did to Paul Rudd in Knocked Up, wherein she cries through her complaints about Dave’s inability to enjoy the perfectly nice life they have set up for themselves. Director David Dobkin, who was praised for bringing gratuitous female nudity back with the R-rated comedy Wedding Crashers, outdoes himself in The Change-Up. After Dave is schooled, on Mitch’s lorno shoot, about the strategic value of the TS and the BTS (basically: bare boob shots), they are liberally deployed in the film. But like much of The Change-Up, the effect is grim and joyless instead of lighthearted and loose. Even the pleasure in the novelty of the lead performances — Reynolds goes much farther in “doing” Bateman, who is too bogged down in profanity to have much fun with the characterization — is tainted by a script (by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore) so risibly broad it makes Wedding Crashers look like Bergman in the Hamptons. Each man teaches the other the tao of their particular brand of masculinity, and “conflict” is derived from the mutual realization that they actually don’t mind the switch as much they first feared. “I don’t know how to do your grown-up crap,” Mitch says, in awe of Dave’s array of responsibilities. “Think of yourself as a brain-damaged mule lost in the desert,” Dave says, by way of instruction. The Change-Up doesn’t have much to say about what it means to be a man, but that seems like pretty solid advice for a certain kind of comedy director.

Couric 'frustrated' at CBS News

CBS News chairman Jeff Fager and new 'Evening News' anchor Scott Pelley at Wednesday's TCA panel.Katie Couric, who spent five years anchoring "The CBS Evening News," was rarely, if ever, professionally satisfied during her tenure at the Eye.So said CBS News chairman Jeff Fager at the Television Critics Assn. confab in Beverly Hills. Fager said Couric ''was frustrated" doing the news every night and that she "realized she needed to move and spread her wings. It was not the right vehicle for her."Since her final broadcast in May, ratings for the nightly newscast have improved. Scott Pelley, a longtime correspondent on "60 Minutes," has taken over as anchor and managing editor.Fager, Pelley and CBS News president David Rhodes argued at the panel that despite budget cuts and the elimination of many worldwide bureaus -- circumstances that are evident across all broadcast news divisions -- the Eye has enough manpower to get the job done."I have experienced no lack of resources and we have had no shortage of people," Pelley said. "Shortages or resources is not something I look at every morning."Added Rhodes: "You hear how network news organizations have cut back and I don't see that we don't have what we need to do a capable job every night. I think it's a misnomer. ... You don't necessarily need physical offices in as many places to put on a credible broadcast. With new technologies, I think it's a mistake to count heads or number of bureaus."After a handful of news orgs were suspected of paying for photos, video and interviews in the recent Casey Anthony case, Fager said CBS would not go down that road to get something exclusive and a possible ratings boost.'It goes against what we believe in. We won't do it," he said. ''If others want to do it, fine. There are stories out there to tell and we don't need to get in that line of work."Now that ratings for the "CBS Evening News" are moving in the right direction, Fager said much of his attention is being paid to "The Early Show," which has gone through several personnel transformations in the last few years but is still trailing badly in the morning race behind longtime leader "Today" and "Good Morning America.""It's a big challenge for us," Fager said. "We need to focus on it."Harry Smith, who was the most recognizable face on the ayem skein, left the show at the end of last year and recently moved over to rival NBC News. When asked if morning viewing habits are too engrained to be changed, Fager answered: "I hope not." Magical Elves remains a top producer

Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz have brought a bouquet of hit unscripted fare to cable and broadcast TV.'Braxton Family Values''The Real L Word''Top Chef''Work of Art'It all began at a friend's birthday party more than a decade ago. After a few too many drinks, Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth began talking about starting their own production company."I can't remember who suggested it to who, but the other person said, 'Yeah, I've been thinking about that too,'?" Cutforth recalled as he and Lipsitz sat for a joint interview recently in their Hollywood-based Magical Elves shingle. The company, officially launched 10 years ago, has been behind some of reality TV's most popular skeins, including "Top Chef" as well as "Work of Art," "The Real L Word" and "Braxton Family Values." On the theatrical side, Magical Elves reached out to the teenage girl crowd with "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never."Since they joined forces on VH1's "Bands on the Run," Cutforth and Lipsitz have developed and produced shows for an array of broadcast ("Last Comic Standing" and the upcoming "Fashion Star") and cable nets ("Project Greenlight," "Top Design" and "Dance Your Ass Off")."I never could have gotten through these last 10 years without having Dan as my partner," Lipsitz says of Cutforth, whom she met while she was an exec at VH1 overseeing and producing such shows as "Pop Up Video" and "The List."The partners finish each other's sentences so often that they originally considered calling the company Twin Talk. They agree that their partnership is similar to a longterm relationship."In a marriage you produce children and here we produce television," Lipsitz says. "Our productions are our children. There's a lot of conversations about how do you manage the kids, how do you make the television shows better."When they launched Magical Elves, the partners worked side by side and tried to do everything in tandem, but as they started to produce more shows, they were forced to split primary responsibility with certain series. Cutforth is now more directly involved in the day-to-day of Bravo's "Top Chef" franchise while Lipsitz is focused on Showtime's "The Real L Word," launching "Fashion Star" for NBC and taking the lead in development."It's definitely like a male-female thing," Lipsitz says. "Dan is very good at organization, structure and seeing how formats come together as part of a big picture. I spend a little more time on developing the emotional side of storytelling. We can definitely see the yin-yang working. We balance each other out."Lauren Zalaznick, chairman of NBC Universal Entertainment & Digital Networks and Integrated Media, first worked with Lipsitz back in 1996 when both were at VH1. By the time Zalaznick came to Bravo in 2004, Magical Elves had begun its stellar run and the executive has watched as Lipsitz and Cutforth continue to display extraordinary teamwork."They have truly a perfect team with a near-perfect relationship," she says. "Like a perfect emotional relationship or marriage or business partnership, they understand each other's brand and essence and passion and drive and craziness."With a full roster of reality shows that have many unpredictable elements, the Elves team often find itself reacting to a logistics problem, a budget situation or creative issue -- sometimes all at once."We have all these different hats we have to wear in the space of a day, and multitasking on that many levels is really hard," Cutforth says. "You're trying to drive five cars at the same time. You drive one car for a little bit and then you stop, get out and run back to where the other cars are. Then you drive another one for a little bit, stop, get out of that and maybe drive the first one for a bit more. I feel like we do a decent job of driving all those cars."Having a sense of humor has helped."What has characterized our relationship from day one is that in times of great crisis, we usually find a way to make it funny," says Cutforth. "We literally end up laughing about it and then we figure it out. First we freak out, then we laugh about the fact that we freaked out. Then we fix it."NBC reality topper Paul Teledgy says there are good reasons why Magical Elves productions are in demand, whether they have created a show themselves or are asked by a network to produce it."Dan and Jane really know what they are doing and they care deeply," he says. "We know what we are buying when we buy a Magical Elves show. Because they are 100% owners of the company, they march to the beat of their own drum creatively and from a business point of view."Producer David Nevins, who worked with Lipsitz and Cutforth on "Treasure Hunters" on NBC in 2006 and more recently on Showtime's "The Real L Word," says the Magical Elves team brings something very rare to the reality show table: "They have the instincts of real documentarians and real sophistication in how they approach their subjects."Nevins hopes they remain a unit for at least another 10 years."They have relentless creative minds and they work really well together -- pushing each other," he says. "Reality television is a medium that changes really fast and there's a constant hunger for the next thing. They are smart enough that they will stay on the cutting edge as long as they want to."Lipsitz remembers that when she and Cutforth started talking seriously about forming their own company at that birthday party more than a decade ago, they looked to Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey's World of Wonder shingle as a model."People accuse us of sort of chasing the shiny butterfly in the field, but for us that's not a bad thing," she says. "We are mindful of running a successful business, but at the same time we are guided by our creative principles."MAGICAL ELVES AT 10:Magical Elves remains a top producer | Magical moments | 'Top Chef,' top franchise | On the slate Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

VIDEO: Rhianna States Tim Gunn is "As being a Bully" Regarding Hillary Clinton

Rhianna Rhianna co-located Monday's episode from the View and also the subject of Tim Gunn's recent comments regarding Hillary Rodham Clinton's wardrobe options emerged. (Gunn had stated a week ago on Lopez Tonight, "I believe [Clinton is] unclear about her gender. Each one of these large, baggy, customized men's suits? No, I am serious.Inch) Gaga's response? "He's as being a bully. I believe Hillary Clinton has more essential things to bother with than her hemline." Since Gaga has surpassed Gunn's fashion relevance for some time now, we are more inclined to defer to her. (And also, since when does a lady selecting to put on anything have effect on her gender identity? Is Gunn residing in the '50s?) Rhianna release a photography book Watch Gaga's defense and Gunn's original comment below: And, here is a bonus video: Gaga also talked about Amy Winehouse's dying, which she stated left her without words for 48 hrs following the news broke. "The lesson ended up being to be kinder towards the celebrity. Everyone am difficult on her," stated Gaga. That discussion brought to that one on Gaga's drug history:

Anyone know the title of this movie?

I saw a trailer a couple years ago, but I don't remember the title. It
had a man tied down on a chair and a woman with man she hired
threatens and tries to kill him for killing her husband and making her
limp. The guy who is tied up cries that she's got the wrong person,
and that he is just a family guy.

Anyone know the title of this movie? Thanks so much!

What is a good program for writing/recording drum tracks?

I am trying to be able to write, record and produce my own music(all
styles from metal and rock to electronic and jazz) and I need a good
drum machine. I'm going to need a program that lets me do all of the
following:
(I don't know how any of this works, so if I sound like a total
newbie/amateur I apologize haha)

- Make a full track/song available for playback
- Map out exactly which drum hits on each beat, from quarter notes to
32nd notes
- Change time signature and tempo randomly throughout the
project/playback and at different measures
- To be able to record and export these beats to my other recording
software to play my instruments over

Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.
